Women in Quran - Hawwa (Eve)

Hawwa (Eve, wife of Prophet Adam, may peace be upon him). HAwwa is not mentiot mentioned in Qura'an but we find a mention of her as wife of Prophet Adam. Prophet Adam was created from the clay of the Heaven and his mate Hawwa was created thereafter to be his companion in the Heavens.

The creation of Prophet Adam and Hawwa is mentioned in the first verse of Surah Al Nisa (The Women, Chapter 4), wherein it is stated:
"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship) . Surely, Allah is Ever an All-Watcher over you."
Although it is not mentioned how Hawwa was created, but we take it that as Allah created Prophet Adam from heavenly clay, so was Hawwa also been have created. However there are interpretations of the above Quranic verse that lead us to understand that Hawwa was created from the left rib of the Prophet Adam. Read again the above verse: "and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)]."

Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) has been quoted as saying: "Treat women well. Woman was created from a rib. The most crooked part of the rib is the top part. If you try to straighten it, you will break it. If you leave it, it remains crooked. So treat women well."

After their creation, both were asked to live in the Heavens and eat and rest as they wished to be.
“Eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will...” (Quran 2:35)
However, they were cautioned not to east the fruit of a particular fruit, “...come not near this tree or you both will be of the wrongdoers.” (Quran 2:35)

Since Ibless (Satan, an angel turned into devil for not prostrating in front of Adam when Allah created him) mislead the couple and persuaded them to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree.
“...Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save that you should become Angels or become of the immortals.” (Quran 7:20)
Enticed by Iblees' luring tactics, both ate the forbidden fruit (“So he (Satan) misled them with deception.” (Quran 7:22)) and suddenly their nakedness was revealed to each other and they started covering their bodies with leaves.
“Then they both ate of that tree, and so their private parts appeared to them, and they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering.  Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray.  Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness and gave him guidance.” (Quran 20:121-122)
Although Allah forgave Adam for the mistake he and Hawwa had committed, he commanded them to go down to the earth and follow Allah's orders as and when revealed and do not get astray.
“Get you down (upon the earth), all of you together, from Paradise, some of you are an enemy to some others.  Then, if there comes to you guidance from Me, whoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery.” (Quran 20:123)
The details of the entire episode will be covered separately under the mention of selected prophets. For now it is suffice to say that both Prophet Adam and Hawwa descended on earth. Although it is not mentioned anywhere where the couple descended on earth, some historians related their place of descent as present day Sri Lanka.

The lineage of Adam commenced from the twin born of them - in fact each time Hawwa gave birth, it were twins, one male and the other female. Qabeel (Cain) and his sister were the first borns, followed by Habeel (Able and his sister). AS time passed and both twins grew up, a cross marriage was araanged between the first boy and the second girl and second boy and the first girl.

And so the life began and their offspring multiplied and earthly living began of a people devoted to Allah.
